Summer Hits The Stamp Spot

November 11, 2009

I can't believe Wednesday has come round again - and once again Sue and I are thinking alike - maybe I should try to swap days with her so I can get in first - LOL! Never mind - maybe it's good to showcase how the same things can look soo different!!!
Since the weather is heating up here in Melbourne I felt this Miss Anya was the perfect choice to ink up! I've added some black stickles on her sunglasses and cut her out with my nesties.

Once again I've used some of the challenge items Marcia popped into our DT kits. I really struggled with the large die cut behind my flower - it was just too flat for my liking!!! Soooo - after staring at it over the past few weeks I thought why not cuttlebug emboss it for some texture - I used the script folder! Much better!!! And then it just seemed easy to place - how funny that such a little thing can help the creative juices flow!

The fabulous DP is from Sassafrass Lass and comes with the beautiful faux stitched edging! Everything is available from The Stamp Spot Online Store with the exception of the punches I used for the sentiment and the flowers.

I love the exotic and Summery feel of this card - even my 11yo son gave this one the thumbs up - LOL
Wishing you all a fabulous week!

xXx

Scallop Edge Tutorial

November 9, 2009

Good morning, how's your Monday going? Our start to the week has been a bit rocky, but can only get better from here!

So, this morning I thought I would share this card with you and then show you how I made the scallop edge around the card window.

Photobucket

The card is using the TGF Xmas Sweeties set and papers from Cosmo Cricket. Oh and I have dragged out the liquid applique for the fur on her jacket and hood! All are available instore (although I think there is only one more Xmas Sweeties set and then they are all gone!).

Now onto the tutorial ... I'm sharing this because a friend saw this on my desk over the weekend and asked how did I get that scallop to match the window so well.

When I made the card, I stuck everything onto the card front like normal, minus Anya. Then using an oval nestabilitie I cut the window out (had to run it through my CB a few times so it could get through 2 layers of card and some printed paper).

Next I took some matching cardstock, in cream. Now using the same sized oval nestie, I nested it with Scallop Oval nestie.......... like shown in the pic below:

Photobucket

Because there would be two cutting points (one for the classic oval and one for the scallop oval, it created the following once run through my CB:

Photobucket

And everything was used ... the scallop edge was adhered to match the oval window and I used the classic oval cut out on the inside to stamp Merry Christmas onto.

Another reason they are called Nestabilities ... you don't have to do just one shape, endless possibilies.

Have a great Monday ... x Marcia

Down on the Farm

November 6, 2009

Well it's Friday, finally. This week seems to have dragged on but the weekend is just over the hill. Alex is still away, so I am stepping in for her Friday efforts. It's been fun doing so although I am a touch late today.

Photobucket

Today's creation is such a cutie. Now I don't own the Rock the Farm set, but DT Member Sammi shared some images with me and this sweetie was in the pile. Thanks Sammi, she is extra cute and I might just have to add that set to my Christmas wishlist.

Okay - the deets of today's creation, all from the Stamp Spot - no contraband today.

Materials: Printed paper is from Bo Bunny's Kitchen Spice range (it is very tasty indeed), Anya is from Rock the Farm set, Paper roses are in store, and Coredinations cardstock.

Hope you have a superb slide into the weekend, the sun is well and truly shining here, even if it is a bit muggy. I think winter has finally deserted us and spring is just having a quick stopover, summer will be here before we know it.

Take care, x Marcia

Flowers and Fairies...

November 5, 2009

Good Morning!!! This gorgeous little fairy is the Greeting Farm's Fairy Chloe, she is propped up with foam tape to look as though she is hovering over the 4" pink flower. The paper I used is Sassafras lass - Sweet Marmalade range with a couple of strips of Cosmo Cricket's Earth love range . I finished the card off with a smaller Kaisercraft flower and some Bazzil paper leaves.

This post is scheduled again... but I'll be home tomorrow! Look forward to seeing what everyone has been buying and making!

Double Up!

November 3, 2009

I'm being a little cheeky this week as I'm busy ferrying my daughter to and from exams and revision visits with her teachers. I'm doubling up my Stamp Spot Wednesday with the current Anya Ink Challenge - hope you don't mind Marcia!!! Anya Ink are asking for paper toling this week - a really fun challenge that can add sooo much depth to your work for just a little bit of effort. Tracey has a wonderful step by step explanation of hpw to paper tole an image here.

Apologies for my photo - my PC is at the computer doctors and the photo software on my laptop isn't as user friendly - maybe I should just learn to take better photos!!

You can find this gorgeous Basic Grey Eskimo Kisses DP and the adorable Christmas Sweeties stamps from The Greeting Farm over at The Stamp Spot Store. The bottom snowflake and the fur trim have been given the Polar White Flower Soft treatment - this is also available at the store. I've also added a little bit of Dazzling Diamonds for some snowy sparkle!

Have a wonderful week.

Manic Monday ....

November 2, 2009

... but hopefully this will calm the Mondayitis!

A quick and simple card today from me ~ have had a busy couple of days and thought I would share something that can be whipped together in a few short minutes. Not all cards have to be elaborate (but they do look good, don't they!), clean and simple can be just as effective.

Photobucket

Okay, had a ferret around in the scrap box and came out with these gorgeous pieces. The papers are from Collage Press' Sweet Shoppe range, which is complete with a sheet of die cut labels. Perfect for some simple tone on tone styling.

Everything on this card is available in store, the ribbon is a wide grosgrain, the papers and die cut labels are listed also.

Arriving late on Friday afternoon were some buttons (we love buttons! Lots of colours, shapes and styles) and the taking-forever-to-get-here paper doilies. So I will be sorting them today and they should be in the store for Tuesday lunchtime. Oh and also in transit at the moment are some beautiful laces ......... yep I found a great stash of laces, some vintage and just waiting for them to get here. Perfect for cards and scrap layouts alike!

Have a great week, scrap lots, colour heaps!
Mwah, Marcia

Special You Friday

October 30, 2009

Friday is here, and guess who? It's Marcia. Alex has headed away for a couple of weeks so I am stepping in. Don't know that I can make the slide into the weekend as smooth as she does, but here goes!

This week, the new Bo Bunny papers have finally arrived instore. I saw these at a wholesalers show a couple of months back and was sold ....... they are stunning, which is a big call coming from me, Basic Grey's biggest fan! In store now are the Flutter Butter and Kitchen Spice ranges, including rub ons and some to-die-for Die Cut papers!

Photobucket

Okay, this card has been made with the Flutter Butter papers, specifically Flutter Butter, Honey and Cut Outs. The lettering is from Carolee's Creations - in fact everything on this card is available intore, apart from Shy Tilda, from Magnolia.

Over the next couple of weeks, there are some new embellishments arriving instore - I have sourced some gorgeous laces, some vintage, new flowers and doilie designs. I'm also still hanging out for the Melissa Frances releases; they seem to be taking forever to appear.

Have a great weekend, take care and pop back Monday for my regular posting!

Marcia's Challenge Continues!

As I told you a couple of weeks ago Marcia sent her DT some fun new products to play with and this week I've used some of the gorgeous Felt Ribbon - this is the Raspberry but it does come in other colours - check them out HERE. It went beautifully with this wonderful Basic Grey DP from the Indian Summer series. The muted tones mixed with the pink gives you a lot of scope to play with other colours - so I went with Chocolate Chip - LOL.

My image is one of the adorable gals from Inky Impressions - Angelica's Heart Socks. These images are just gorgeous and have sooo much detail in them - but once you add some colour to her eyes she seems to just come alive. I've used my nesties and cuttlebug embossing folders to create the "frame" for Angelica to sit in - she looked a little lost popped up on the felt ribbon. But I did find a home for a little felt offcut at the top of the frame - it just seemed to tie everything together. Some rhinesones and pearls were added for a little bit of bling.

The sentiment is from SU but all the rest can be found at The Stamp Spot Online Store.

That's all from me for this week - the glue is probably still drying as I post this as I'm a bit behind today!!! Hope I'm better organised next week for you.

xXx

Glamour

October 26, 2009

Happy Monday everyone, don't know about where you are, but here in Perth we have come from a weekend of stunning sunshine to a miserable, humid and raining Monday. It's played havoc with my photo light this morning, hence my late post.

Thought I would share a card and a layout this morning. Both use the Earth Love range from Cosmo Cricket, which is available in store. I love the rich earthy colours in this range, they are strong colours with a touch of feminine grace about them.

I started with a group of pages from the range and worked on this layout. The photo is my DD who had a crazy hair day at school, well after we took out the copious amount of bobby clips, this hairdo is what she was left with. She was STOKED .... because her hair is dead straight and finally it was curly. So we glammed her up and took some photos. She loves the photos we took so had to do a layout.

Photobucket

So once the layout was done, I thought I would go another step. How often after finishing a layout are you left with little scraps. Not really big enough to do another layout with, but perfect for a card front. So I made a card using my cut offs ......

Photobucket

This thank you card is going to someone who has been a great help today for me. She's taken DD to school and will pick her up as I have no car today. I've made her a batch of cookies to go with it.

The card isn't anything hard to make, just added some texture with the tearing, some ink distressing and layered the paper. The flower is available in store (along with about six other colours). It's a 4 inch, perfect for cards and layouts.

So there you have it ......... a layout and a card with three different printed papers, some flowers and some core'dinations cardstock.

Have a great week, hope it is a great one! Ciao for now, Marcia

Rainy Day Hanna in Basic Grey scene

Here's a little explanation of what I have used for this card...
When I saw this Gorgeous Basic Grey - Indian Summer sheet (cut to 6") in my DT pack I could not bear to cut it up....I thought it made a perfect little backdrop for someone to walk through - so I trimmed it and used the whole piece ....
I also cut to size the red Felt ribbon to put down the side. I used a rainy day Hanna image (coloured with copics and 'rainproofed' with glossy accents) and then finished off the card with some rhinestones and a rub-on swirl.

I will not be around for the next two weeks as I'm going on holiday but I will schedule my thursday cards for you to see more great Stamp Spot products!!

Have a great day! xxx

Boys Will Be Boys

October 21, 2009

I've gone with a fairly simple card this week- it's been a little crazy in my part if the world! The senior high school students are finishing up and I both have a daughter in year 12 and I work at a High School - so "muck up" week is here big time for me - LOL.

I have decided to go back to a more innocent age - my son's! He has a number of friends turning 11 and 12 so I thought I could use this for one of them. I think Skater Ian is perfect for a boy's card - and mixed with bold colours and cuttlebug embossing he looks fabulous. I do have a confession - I cut the wheels off his skateboard by mistake - so he's now sporting ones made of buttons - hope he doesn't mind - LOL. The fabulous DP I've used is from Cosmo Cricket's The Boyfriend range and it called Driver's Ed - how perfect for this image!

I just had to use a Greeting Farm stamp this week as Marcia has just received some brand new ones instore - check them out here. And don't forget her marvellous paper sale, new embellishments and other fabulous new stamps!

Catch up with you again next week - but don't forget to stop in and check out what the rest of the fabulous The Stamp Spot DT have been up too.

Christmas Mouse

Photobucket

What a beautiful weekend, the weather has been awesome and is such a reminder that it won't be long until summer is here!

And with summer comes Christmas ~ so I am still working on my Christmas cards. Some of the Christmas stamps in store are gorgeous and this little Rachelle Anne Miller 'Mouse' is no exception.

The printed papers are also Christmas ones, from Basic Grey's Eskimo Kisses range. I am absolutely loving that products this year are not using all traditional greens and reds .... there's hints of blues, pretty pinks and I have even seen some browns and greys!

If you haven't started your Christmas cards, don't panic, there is still time. I am about 70 short and have about eight weeks to do them. If I can set myself a goal like that, you can too!

Oh yeah, this little card ......... it's number four. Better get a hurry up, only 10 weeks until Christmas!

Have a fantastic Monday, ease into the week and maybe see you in the store!

Ciao, Marcia

A Customer Creation Shared

October 17, 2009

Photobucket

Customer Lynda S shared with me a couple of her creations using product she had purchased from the Stamp Spot. She doesn't have a blog and one of her cards just screamed at me ... think it was because she used one of my fave colour combos, purple and green.

I emailed Lynda and asked if I could share her card on the Stamp Spot blog - and she was so excited. So here it is.

Thank you so much Lynda, I always get a buzz out of seeing what people create. One of the great things in being a scrapping store owner, is I am selling to people that have a passion and it's one I cherish too!

Have a great weekend everyone, Marcia

Geisha Anya visits The Stamp Spot

October 15, 2009

Good morning! It's Thursday again! Wow - that week flew by didn't it!
Here is my card this week...

As Debbie mentioned yesterday - Marcia sent us a few fun things to work with this month. It took me a while and some helpful suggestions from DH before I worked out what to do with this Sassafrass Lass Beatnik Bud .... Using the budd and the flower in Geisha Anya's hair I've gone with a sort of florally theme - adding the silhouette flowers from the Kaisercraft hideaway rubons (I do love that pack!). The Patterned Papers I have used are: Basic Grey - Eskimo kisses,
Cosmo Cricket - Earth Love and Cosmo Cricket - the Boyfriend - These are all gorgeous double sided papers but I have only used one side for this card.
check out the Stamp Spot store and snap up some of the gorgeous papers that are on sale!
Enjoy your day!!
Sammi
