Basic Grey Christmas!

November 25, 2009

It seems to me that the Christmas craziness has begun early this year - the week's seem to be racing ahead and there's sooo much to do!! I saw my DD off to schoolies today, have a weekend of stamping away coming up - and relatives arriving for Christmas in less than 2 weeks - aaagh!!! I think the one sanity in my life is my crafting!!! And since it's Wednesday today I get to play here - LOL.

Have you noticed - NO COLOURING!! And virtually NO STAMPING either!!! But with these gorgeous Basic Grey Eskimo Kisses papers it would be silly NOT to make them the feature event! I love these papers sooo much I picked up the whole paper pad from The Stamp Spot Online Store early on! This little village scene is soo cute, and combine it with the cuttlebug ornaments embossing folder it makes a fairly quick and easy card - which still has a bit of a wow factor! So remember to look at your DPs as main images and not just for backgrounds - and with all the fabulous papers Marcia has instore at The Stamp Spot I'm sure there's something for everyone!! The snowflake is a Spellbinders die.

Well I'll catch up with you again next week - so far this week I haven't doubled up with anyone - but Sammi and Alex are still to come, it's certainly been a bit of fun between us - LOL.

Sue's Tuesday with 'Miss Anya - Dressy'

November 24, 2009

Yes it's that day again, wow it comes around fast. Well I had a very exciting weekend in Tamora NSW, watching the World Jet Boat races, part of the pit crew with our friends Chris, Ronnie & Ryan, with their boat 'In the Raw'. Chris came 6th in heat one, heat 2 is in Melton, Vic this weekend. One of the other teams from WA, was 'Crazy Az' an they were the unlucky ones who crashed, but luckily Al & Jo were both fine (Jo has broken ankle), so a very exciting weekend (and busy).
So to my card for today which I must say was abit rushed as I exhausted from the weekend, but was made a lot easier with all the gorgeous products I received in my DT goodies from the gorgeous & talented Marcia. Everything except the punches for the flowers, is available in 'The Stamp Spot on-line Store', so go have a look-see, there is so many gorgeous papers, embellishments etc there. Have a great week all, an please come back an see what the other gorgeous girls come up with this week, umm wonder what Debbie has tomorrowI'm actually following her an Sammi with the papers they used last week so Ishould be safe this week lol,
hugs to all

The Non Traditional Christmas

November 23, 2009

Happy Monday morning ... the start of another week, which means we are another week closer to Christmas ... but you didn't need reminding, did you!?

Well, given how close we are to Christmas, here's a non traditional Christmas card to make your Monday rosy!

Photobucket

I guess this card highlights how you don't have to buy product specific for Christmas ... only the 'merry xmas' on here is a Christmas release.

I've cut the scallop rectangle from Bo Bunny paper, using my rectangle nestabilities. I've then used my cropadile to put the little hole into each scallop (I was half way around and wondering why I started, but it looks good!).

The scallop border was done with an EK Success corner rounder and the cotton lace ribbon is one of the new ones instore from Melissa Frances.

The tree stamp is from Unity Stamps Giggle Grove set and I have added some green Kaisercraft rhinestones to look like baubles on the tree.

A simple, non traditional design, but effective.

Have a great Monday!

Stamps: Giggle Grove (Unity Stamps), Xmas Sweeties (The Greeting Farm)
Papers: Kitchen Spice 'Nutmeg' (Bo Bunny), Forest (Coredinations), Vanilla (Coredinations)
Accessories: Nestabilities, Rhinestones from Kaisercraft, Ribbon (Melissa Frances), Punch (EK Success), Cropadile, Sewing Machine.

Eeek!! Apologies to be given!!

November 22, 2009

Where do the days go?????????

Can somebody help me with that????????

I may be beyond help I think, don't you???????????

Friday came, we had Kindy School to go to, then I had to pack five bags and get them into the car before school pickup, head to school and pick up the other kids............and then head up to the freeway to Newcastle for a Chairman's Dinner for my hubby's work.

It was then that it happened. I sucked in a big, huge breath and had a minor heart attack. I can't believe I forgot to do my Friday post here for The Stamp Spot!!!!!!!!!!

So to make up for it, I have created two projects to share with you. The first is a cute little Christmas tree card made with the papers from We Are Memory Keepers. You can find it here.

Everything on this card you can find at the store. Lace, buttons and gorgeous papers.

The second project is a little 6 x 6" scrap page of my youngest child. I have used the Geohectic papers from We Are Memory Keepers and cut out some select words. The background was created with the star Cuttlebug Folder and I have used the Sassafrass Lass Stitches stamps.
I am so sorry for forgetting to touch base with you on Friday. Will write REALLY BIG in my diary this week, maybe that will work??? :)

Bye for now, see you next Friday.

What's New Instore?

November 21, 2009

Marcia here, hope your weekend is shaping up to be a great one.

Thought I would take this chance to share some new paper ranges and products that have come instore over the last week.

First up, is the delivery of Melissa Frances goodies has finally arrived .. their White and Beige ribbon collections are stunning. There's also some rubons and die cut labels that have come in.

Next are the two new paper ranges from We R Memory Keepers - Twirl and Geohectic. One for the girls and one for the boys!

Both ranges come with papers, foil or glitter adhesive ribbons (the boys have these cute gold cogs!) and die cut labels and tags.

It's not long until Christmas and the mail is about to bog down big time .... so if you haven't put your Christmas order in, you need to do so pretty soon. And don't forget about our Gift Certificates ... best way to get to spend some money on scrap/stamp things you need.

Take care and have a blessed weekend!

Peek a Bunny Thursday

November 19, 2009

Oh wow! the DT kits this month are fantastic .. lots of scrummy goodies in them :D Which means .... lots of scrummy goodies in the Stamp Spot store!

All the bits and pieces on this card are from my kit this month:
The image is Stampavie's Peek a Bunny such a cute little image and very fun to colour. This one is coloured with Copics to match the Bo Bunny paper (does the paper look familiar? Yup it's the same one Debbie used yesterday - must be because Sue and Debbie used different things this week! :) I also included some Orange Core-dinations card, gorgeous brown lace ribbon + mini buttons - finished off with some hand stitching! I added some glossy accents to the little ladybug and the bunny's ribbon!

thanks for dropping in today and remember to keep coming round as there should be lots of scrummy creations posted by the DT in the next few weeks!!!

Christmas at The Stamp Spot

November 18, 2009

One of the things I love about being on a DT is that sometimes you get to play with things you wouldn't usually have - and it's always fun to see what goodies arrive in my DT kit! This angel from Stampendous is one of those things! Marcia sent me a stamped image to play with and I have decided she's just gorgeous. I had seen this stamp before but had honestly only given it a passing glance! But to have the image stamped in front of me and then to see it come to life with colour - hmmmm - I think she'll be on my next order!!! It just goes to show you need to REALLY look at images sometimes and imagine them stamped up!
The added bonus this week is that I haven't had to follow Sue after she's used the same papers or images - although it has caused a few jokes and giggles - LOL.

My daughter saw this card sitting on the coffee table and asked who had sent it - because she really liked it! She was surprised when I told her it was mine - and not finished yet, I still had to put on the bling! She thought it was soo not my style - but that again is the fun of experimenting! I actually LOVE this card and the papers from Bo Bunny have been the perfect choice. I used both sides of the paper and was surprised how different they were - but how fabulous they looked together!

My image has been cut using my nesties - with the same size nestie being cut in 2 colours to frame her - I trim the end points off and then split them in 2 down the middle. To bling her up I added Dazzling Diamonds to the tips of her wings and the base of her dress, and some Kaiser pearls on the card.

The beautiful stamp, DPs, flowers and nesties are all available from The Stamp Spot - and don't forget to keep checking back here at The Stamp Spot Blog to see what other fabulous inspiration the DT have for you!

Sue' s Tuesday - 'Hippo Birthday'!

November 17, 2009

Hi all hope you are all well an happy, can you believe how fast the year is going, Christmas is nearly here, better start my Chrissy cards soon!!
This week at 'The Stamp Spot' blog I have used all my DT goodies from Marcia (as always), an in my goodies from Marcia I had this gorgeous image from 'Lelo Designs' - 'Hippo Birthday' he is so cute, I teamed him up with DP papers (in goodies), Buttons and Marcia had popped in this gorgeous chipboard zigzag, so I covered it with paper and added it as a border to give some depth (doesn't show up so good on photo, isn't that always the way). I coloured him with my Prisma's (wasn't too happy with the colouring but only had the 1 image so couldn't redo)! an glossed the present an his top with Glossy Accents. So apart from the sentiments, everything on this is available from 'The Stamp Spot on-line Store' an Marcia has specials too so pop an have a look, and of course come back here everyday to see what the others have been up to. I can't wait to see what Debbie has for us tomorrow, we almost always do something similar hehe, we could communicate an make sure we do something diff but it's more fun this way hehe.
hugs
to you all

Cute Monday

November 16, 2009

Is it Monday already?

I've been away on a scrap weekend with the girls, got back in late last night and that is why this post is only happening now. This is as far as I got with my scrap stuff last night, and as much fun as I had, I think the unpacking is the pits.

Photobucket

It wasn't all laughter, a bit of work was done (okay 8 layouts and a card!). Here's the card I made .... it's showcasing the new We R Memory Keepers 'Twirl' papers and elements that came into the store late last week .... I pinched some to take away with me!

Photobucket

There is ink on the card, just on the sponging around the edges of each paper strip. The card really shows the beautiful colours in this range ... it's a real girly set of papers.

Anyway, I better get back to unpacking and cleaning the house, think hubby and the Princess has a holiday too over the weekend!

Take care and have a great Monday, x Marcia

I'm Back

November 13, 2009

Hi again, our sun-soaking holiday is now over and it is back to everyday life. I am really ready for it though. Bring it on (6 weeks till Christmas apparently????)

So because Christmas is looming, I decided to create a little Christmas cheer for my post today.

How cute is that little Santa and reindeer? I have used two Eskimo Kisses paper for this card. The background is Glazed Apple and Finial for the punched out Santa. I embellished my scallop with some Kaiser Bling and got this funny web ribbon somewhere in my stash to add some texture.

Have a great weekend and I will be back next Friday.
Bye,
Alex

Summer Hits The Stamp Spot

November 11, 2009

I can't believe Wednesday has come round again - and once again Sue and I are thinking alike - maybe I should try to swap days with her so I can get in first - LOL! Never mind - maybe it's good to showcase how the same things can look soo different!!!
Since the weather is heating up here in Melbourne I felt this Miss Anya was the perfect choice to ink up! I've added some black stickles on her sunglasses and cut her out with my nesties.

Once again I've used some of the challenge items Marcia popped into our DT kits. I really struggled with the large die cut behind my flower - it was just too flat for my liking!!! Soooo - after staring at it over the past few weeks I thought why not cuttlebug emboss it for some texture - I used the script folder! Much better!!! And then it just seemed easy to place - how funny that such a little thing can help the creative juices flow!

The fabulous DP is from Sassafrass Lass and comes with the beautiful faux stitched edging! Everything is available from The Stamp Spot Online Store with the exception of the punches I used for the sentiment and the flowers.

I love the exotic and Summery feel of this card - even my 11yo son gave this one the thumbs up - LOL
Wishing you all a fabulous week!

Scallop Edge Tutorial

November 9, 2009

Good morning, how's your Monday going? Our start to the week has been a bit rocky, but can only get better from here!

So, this morning I thought I would share this card with you and then show you how I made the scallop edge around the card window.

Photobucket

The card is using the TGF Xmas Sweeties set and papers from Cosmo Cricket. Oh and I have dragged out the liquid applique for the fur on her jacket and hood! All are available instore (although I think there is only one more Xmas Sweeties set and then they are all gone!).

Now onto the tutorial ... I'm sharing this because a friend saw this on my desk over the weekend and asked how did I get that scallop to match the window so well.

When I made the card, I stuck everything onto the card front like normal, minus Anya. Then using an oval nestabilitie I cut the window out (had to run it through my CB a few times so it could get through 2 layers of card and some printed paper).

Next I took some matching cardstock, in cream. Now using the same sized oval nestie, I nested it with Scallop Oval nestie.......... like shown in the pic below:

Photobucket

Because there would be two cutting points (one for the classic oval and one for the scallop oval, it created the following once run through my CB:

Photobucket

And everything was used ... the scallop edge was adhered to match the oval window and I used the classic oval cut out on the inside to stamp Merry Christmas onto.

Another reason they are called Nestabilities ... you don't have to do just one shape, endless possibilies.

Have a great Monday ... x Marcia

Down on the Farm

November 6, 2009

Well it's Friday, finally. This week seems to have dragged on but the weekend is just over the hill. Alex is still away, so I am stepping in for her Friday efforts. It's been fun doing so although I am a touch late today.

Photobucket

Today's creation is such a cutie. Now I don't own the Rock the Farm set, but DT Member Sammi shared some images with me and this sweetie was in the pile. Thanks Sammi, she is extra cute and I might just have to add that set to my Christmas wishlist.

Okay - the deets of today's creation, all from the Stamp Spot - no contraband today.

Materials: Printed paper is from Bo Bunny's Kitchen Spice range (it is very tasty indeed), Anya is from Rock the Farm set, Paper roses are in store, and Coredinations cardstock.

Hope you have a superb slide into the weekend, the sun is well and truly shining here, even if it is a bit muggy. I think winter has finally deserted us and spring is just having a quick stopover, summer will be here before we know it.

Take care, x Marcia

Flowers and Fairies...

November 5, 2009

Good Morning!!! This gorgeous little fairy is the Greeting Farm's Fairy Chloe, she is propped up with foam tape to look as though she is hovering over the 4" pink flower. The paper I used is Sassafras lass - Sweet Marmalade range with a couple of strips of Cosmo Cricket's Earth love range . I finished the card off with a smaller Kaisercraft flower and some Bazzil paper leaves.

This post is scheduled again... but I'll be home tomorrow! Look forward to seeing what everyone has been buying and making!

Double Up!

November 3, 2009

I'm being a little cheeky this week as I'm busy ferrying my daughter to and from exams and revision visits with her teachers. I'm doubling up my Stamp Spot Wednesday with the current Anya Ink Challenge - hope you don't mind Marcia!!! Anya Ink are asking for paper toling this week - a really fun challenge that can add sooo much depth to your work for just a little bit of effort. Tracey has a wonderful step by step explanation of hpw to paper tole an image here.

Apologies for my photo - my PC is at the computer doctors and the photo software on my laptop isn't as user friendly - maybe I should just learn to take better photos!!

You can find this gorgeous Basic Grey Eskimo Kisses DP and the adorable Christmas Sweeties stamps from The Greeting Farm over at The Stamp Spot Store. The bottom snowflake and the fur trim have been given the Polar White Flower Soft treatment - this is also available at the store. I've also added a little bit of Dazzling Diamonds for some snowy sparkle!

Have a wonderful week.

Manic Monday ....

November 2, 2009

... but hopefully this will calm the Mondayitis!

A quick and simple card today from me ~ have had a busy couple of days and thought I would share something that can be whipped together in a few short minutes. Not all cards have to be elaborate (but they do look good, don't they!), clean and simple can be just as effective.

Photobucket

Okay, had a ferret around in the scrap box and came out with these gorgeous pieces. The papers are from Collage Press' Sweet Shoppe range, which is complete with a sheet of die cut labels. Perfect for some simple tone on tone styling.

Everything on this card is available in store, the ribbon is a wide grosgrain, the papers and die cut labels are listed also.

Arriving late on Friday afternoon were some buttons (we love buttons! Lots of colours, shapes and styles) and the taking-forever-to-get-here paper doilies. So I will be sorting them today and they should be in the store for Tuesday lunchtime. Oh and also in transit at the moment are some beautiful laces ......... yep I found a great stash of laces, some vintage and just waiting for them to get here. Perfect for cards and scrap layouts alike!

Have a great week, scrap lots, colour heaps!
Mwah, Marcia

Special You Friday

October 30, 2009

Friday is here, and guess who? It's Marcia. Alex has headed away for a couple of weeks so I am stepping in. Don't know that I can make the slide into the weekend as smooth as she does, but here goes!

This week, the new Bo Bunny papers have finally arrived instore. I saw these at a wholesalers show a couple of months back and was sold ....... they are stunning, which is a big call coming from me, Basic Grey's biggest fan! In store now are the Flutter Butter and Kitchen Spice ranges, including rub ons and some to-die-for Die Cut papers!

Photobucket

Okay, this card has been made with the Flutter Butter papers, specifically Flutter Butter, Honey and Cut Outs. The lettering is from Carolee's Creations - in fact everything on this card is available intore, apart from Shy Tilda, from Magnolia.

Over the next couple of weeks, there are some new embellishments arriving instore - I have sourced some gorgeous laces, some vintage, new flowers and doilie designs. I'm also still hanging out for the Melissa Frances releases; they seem to be taking forever to appear.

Have a great weekend, take care and pop back Monday for my regular posting!
